Head and Neck Surgeries

In the head and neck area, an ENT specialist is trained to treat infectious diseases, tumors (both benign and malignant/cancerous), facial trauma, and deformities in the face. We perform both cosmetic plastic and reconstructive surgery.

An ENT specialist may work with a team of doctors in other medical and surgical specialties. Common ground is shared with neurosurgery in treating skull base disorders; plastic surgery in correcting cosmetic and traumatic deformities; ophthalmology in treating structural abnormalities near the eye; oral surgery in treating jaw and dental trauma; dermatology in caring for skin cancers; oncology in managing head and neck cancers; in the pediatric and general population.

Masses (tumors) of the head and neck may be benign or malignant. Very often removal is required for diagnosis and treatment. These tumors can appear literally anywhere in the head and neck region. The origin can be skin, salivary glands, lymph nodes, metastatic (spread from elsewhere) cancer, thyroid, congenital (something you are born with), and others. These types of procedures can be minor where they can be done in the office, or very extensive, requiring several hours of surgery in the operating room.
