Hey! My name is Heather Hayes, a Physician Assistant who joined the practice in August 2007. A Physician Assistant is a medically trained health care affiliate. I work with Dr. Cameron to evaluate and manage our otolaryngology and allergy patients. I also assist in head and neck surgeries with Dr. Cameron on select cases.

My formal Physician Assistant training included a Bachelor of Science degree, with a double major in Neuroscience and Art, from Central Michigan University in 2005. Go Chips! I was admitted to the Central Michigan University Physician Assistant program in 2005. I graduated in July 2007 from this program with a Master of Science in Physician Assistant.

In order to get admitted to a Physician Assistant program, I worked as an EMT-Basic for Beacon Ambulance to acquire patient contact hours. This is where I got the majority of my emergency training and experience. In PA school I was educated and trained in family practice (including pediatrics and psychiatry), internal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, urology and obstetrics and gynecology. Half of my PA program was didactic education and the rest was clinical rotations in the Dickinson County area.

Another area of interest during my years of training included organizing Bone Marrow Registry Drives at CMU and right here in Iron Mountain. So far I have organized four drives and added over 575 people to the National Bone Marrow Registry. Two personal friends of mine have donated marrow after signing up at one of my drives. There has also been more than 10 other matches found from my drives, which is so exciting!

I live in Iron Mountain, MI with my husband Adam and some of my favorite things in life include cycling, kayaking, traveling, and being with my loved ones.

I am really enjoying my job here with Dr. Cameron and the staff and this position definately keeps me on my toes! I look forward to serving those in need of otolaryngology and allergy care in Dickinson County and the surrounding areas.
